General Questions

  • Who is Black Travelers International?

    Black Travelers International is a minority-owned, woman owned business that specializes in creating unique travel experiences.  Our trips are open to all.  We strive to deliver high quality trips and adventures for all of our members.


    Our trips give you an opportunity to meet new friends, network, and to see the world with the benefit of traveling with like-minded individuals. 

  • Is Black Travelers International certified and/or licensed?

    Yes, we are certified with IATAN. We also hold a $1M general liability insurance policy and Errors & Omissions Insurance.

  • Why choose Black Travelers International?

    We remove the stress of planning from you.  Some of our tours include options for airfare and optional excursions.   We also schedule free time during our trips that allows you to explore the destination on your own or with others.  Our trips have proven to be engaging, adventurous, and forever life changing. 

  • Who can travel with Black Travelers International®?

    Our experiences are designed to center and celebrate Black women, especially those in midlife and beyond. However, men are welcome as long as they are respectful of and comfortable with the women-centered energy of our group. Everyone in our community must align with our values of safety, inclusivity, and joy.



  • Do we allow men to travel with our group?

    Yes, men are allowed to travel with us.  We welcome men to join many of our tours and have men and couples that frequently travel with us.

  • Is the group open to couples?

    Yes, our group is open to couples.


    We plan several couple only trips a year and couples are welcome to join any open trip.

  • Are trips only for solo travelers, or can I bring a friend or partner?

    You’re welcome to join solo, with a friend, or with a partner! Many of our travelers come alone and leave with lifelong friends. If you're traveling with someone, let us know so we can ensure rooming preferences and shared experiences match your needs.



  • Are your experiences beginner-friendly for first-time travelers?

    Absolutely. Every Black Travelers International® journey is designed with care for travelers at all experience levels — from seasoned jetsetters to first-time passport holders.


    If this is your first time traveling internationally, you’ll be fully supported every step of the way. Our team provides detailed pre-trip guidance, from booking flights and preparing documents to packing tips and cultural insights. Once you arrive, your BTI Trip Host ensures you feel comfortable, informed, and at ease throughout the experience.


    Our itineraries balance structure and freedom — giving you confidence to explore without ever feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Many of our travelers take their very first international trip with BTI, and by the end, they leave not just inspired, but empowered to keep exploring the world.

  • Do you plan travel for private groups?

    We plan private group tours on a limited basis.  Send us an email at support@blacktravelersint.com with your request.

  • What is the average size of your groups tours?

    We specialize in small group travel.  Our group tours typically range in size from 15 to 35 participants.

Booking & Payments

  • How do I reserve my spot on a trip?

    Booking your journey is simple.


    Once you’ve chosen your desired destination, visit the trips detailed page and select "Book Now” to complete your online registration and submit your deposit.


    After booking, you’ll receive a confirmation email and access to your traveler portal — where you can review payment details, trip updates, and more.


    Note: Timely monthly payments must be made to avoid cancelation of your registration.

  • What payment methods do you accept?

    We accept all major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.

  • Do you offer payment plans?

    Yes, we offer payment plans that allow participants to pay for their trips over a period of time.

  • When is final payment due?

    Final payments are typically due 60 days before departure, depending on the destination. Your specific payment schedule will be outlined in your confirmation email and traveler portal. We’ll also send you friendly reminders as your balance due date approaches to ensure a seamless experience.

  • What happens if I need to cancel my trip?

    All payments made to Black Travelers International® are non-refundable and non-transferable. Because our trips are curated months in advance with reserved accommodations, experiences, and vendor commitments, we are unable to offer refunds or apply payments to future travel.


    If you wish to cancel your trip, a written cancellation request must be submitted at least 10 days before your next scheduled payment to stop any further payments from being processed.  Requests can be sent to support@blacktravelersint.com


    We strongly encourage all travelers to purchase comprehensive travel insurance to protect their investment in the event of unexpected changes, emergencies, or cancellations beyond your control.

Preparing for your Trip

  • Do I need a passport or visa to travel?

    a valid passport is required for all international travel. We recommend ensuring your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your return date, as many countries will not allow entry otherwise.


    Visa requirements vary by destination. If your trip requires one, we’ll provide guidance and resources in your traveler portal after booking. It’s your responsibility to obtain any necessary visas prior to departure, but our team is always happy to offer support and direction.




  • Are vaccinations or health documents required?

    Some destinations may require specific vaccinations, COVID-19 documentation, or health forms for entry. We’ll notify you of all known requirements as your trip approaches, but we also encourage checking with your healthcare provider or a local travel clinic for the most up-to-date recommendations.


    Your health and peace of mind are our priority. Many of our travelers choose to carry a personal health kit and travel insurance that includes medical coverage while abroad.

  • Will BTI assist with flights or should I book my own?

    Each traveler is responsible for booking their own flights to and from the destination, unless otherwise stated in your trip package. We’ll share recommended arrival and departure times, airport details, and any available preferred routes to make the process seamless.


    In some cases, we may offer group flight coordination or flight add-ons, which will be clearly noted on your trip’s booking page. Once your flight is confirmed, simply upload your itinerary to your traveler portal so we can coordinate airport transfers.

  • How do I know what to pack?

    About 60 days before your departure, we’ll send a comprehensive packing guide tailored to your specific destination and season. It will include wardrobe tips, cultural considerations, weather insights, and a few style notes for those photo-worthy moments.


    We also recommend packing with intention — light, chic, and comfortable. Think breathable fabrics, layers, and pieces that travel beautifully while honoring local culture and climate.

  • Can you accommodate dietary restrictions or mobility needs?

    Yes, we do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and mobility needs. Please share any specific requests or limitations during the booking process so we can notify our local partners in advance.


    While some destinations have limited options, we’ll always strive to create an inclusive and supportive experience for every traveler.

  • Do you recommend travel insurance?

    Yes — travel insurance is strongly recommended (and required for select destinations). It protects your investment against unexpected changes such as illness, flight delays, or emergencies.


    Your policy should include coverage for trip cancellation, medical emergencies, and baggage protection. After booking, we’ll provide a few trusted insurance options to make the process simple and secure.

  • How does BTI assist you in preparing for your trip?

    To assist you in preparing, you will receive the following:

    * Invitations to Trip Information Sessions

    * Private zoom calls with your group

  • Do you provide roommate matching?

    Yes.  We provide roommate matching for women solo travelers.

  • Should I purchase travel insurance?

    Yes. Travelers insurance can protects you if you are unable to attend your trip for any reason.  Your travel policy may also assist you with any emergencies while traveling. 

  • Do I have to be an experienced traveler to join?

    Not at all! Whether it's your first international trip or your twentieth, you're welcome here. Our team provides support, guidance, and resources every step of the way to make your journey smooth, safe, and unforgettable.

  • Will I have time to explore on my own?

    Each BTI journey strikes a balance between immersive cultural exploration and intentional rest. You’ll enjoy thoughtfully curated group experiences alongside moments of free time to relax, shop, or explore at your own pace.


    We design our itineraries to leave space for spontaneity — whether that’s wandering through a local market, journaling by the sea, or sharing laughter over coffee with new friends.

  • Are meals and excursions included in the price?

    Yes, most of our signature experiences, excursions, and select meals are included in your package. Each itinerary will clearly outline what’s covered, so you can plan with confidence.


    Our goal is to immerse you in each destination through local flavors and authentic experiences — from curated welcome dinners and cultural tours to private tastings, traditional ceremonies, and luxe leisure time.

  • What safety measures are in place for travelers?

    Your safety and peace of mind are our highest priorities. BTI partners only with vetted, trusted local vendors and licensed guides who uphold international hospitality and safety standards.


    We monitor each destination’s conditions before and during travel.
