Traveling to Cuba with BTI: Transparency, Trust & Compliance

At Black Travelers International, your safety, peace of mind, and luxurious experience are our highest priorities. Because Cuba travel is governed by U.S. Department of the Treasury (OFAC) regulations, we require all travelers booking a Cuba itinerary with us to review and agree to the following disclosures and compliance requirements.

Why This Agreement Matters

  • Cuba travel is subject to U.S. sanctions and restrictions.
  • Each traveler must certify their purpose of travel under one of the authorized OFAC categories.
  • BTI is committed to protecting you by keeping every journey compliant, transparent, and safe.

This agreement works in harmony with our standard Terms & Conditions and Travel Waiver.

Key Disclosures

Traveler Certification Requirement

Every traveler must complete and sign a Cuba Traveler Certification Form before their booking can be finalized. This confirms your trip falls under one of the authorized categories (e.g., cultural exchange, support for the Cuban people). BTI is required to retain this record for five years.

Escrow Payment Protection

All payments for Cuba trips are deposited into a segregated escrow account.

  • Funds are released only after traveler certification is received and suppliers are confirmed not to be on the Cuba Restricted List (CRL).
  • If a supplier becomes restricted before your trip, BTI will secure a compliant substitute. If no substitute is available, affected funds will be refunded from escrow.

Supplier Vetting & Compliance

BTI carefully vets all Cuba-based suppliers and partners to ensure:

  • They are not listed on the U.S. Cuba Restricted List.
  • Services align with permitted categories under U.S. law.
  • Contracts include compliance clauses for your protection.

Refunds & Contingencies

  • If compliance requirements are not met, BTI cannot confirm your reservation. In this case, payments will be refunded minus non-recoverable administrative fees.
  • If a supplier is restricted after booking and no substitute can be secured, your funds will be refunded for that portion of the itinerary.

Record-Keeping & Documentation

  • BTI will maintain all traveler certifications, supplier vetting records, and escrow disbursement logs for a minimum of five (5) years.
  • These records demonstrate that your travel was conducted legally and transparently.

Agreement & Acknowledgment

By selecting “I agree” on the booking page, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted the terms of this Cuba Travel Disclosure & Agreement. You understand that:

  • Your booking cannot be finalized without completing the Traveler Certification Form.
  • Payments will be held in escrow and are subject to compliance verification.
  • BTI reserves the right to cancel or modify services to ensure full compliance with U.S. regulations.

 Our Promise to You

We believe travel should be joyful, transformative, and worry-free. These measures are not barriers—they are protections. By aligning with U.S. law, we ensure that your Cuba journey with BTI is not only luxurious and soul-rich, but also secure, transparent, and compliant.
